Beach to Beach Trail Gets Overwhelming Support

A community survey finds that 75% would support the development of a new recreational trail connecting Frank Murphy County Park Beach to Beach View Park.

UniverCity Helps Egg Harbor Study Beach to Beach Trail

Egg Harbor received assistance from the University of Wisconsin's UniverCity program. Engineering students to conduct a study of the Beach to Beach trail.

Pandemic Begins and Stalls Progress

Summer 2022

Beach to Beach Trail Project Gets a New Start

In August 2022, Village President John Heller leads the relaunch of the Beach to Beach trail project. He enlists two trail facilitators to help with the effort.

Winter 2023

Project Evolves

The project vision grows to include consideration of connections to Fish Creek, the Landmark and Rainbow Ridge. The initiative now includes four potential trails, for a total of 11+ miles of multi-use trails.

March 2023

National Park Service Application

The trails team applies for technical assistance from the National Park Service (NPS) through its Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance (RTCA) program.

Spring 2023

Working Together to Make Trails a Reality

The Village of Egg Harbor partners with the Town of Gibraltar and the Town of Egg Harbor. The project is officially a multi-jurisdictional initiative.

May 2023

Trails Team Gets NPS Help

In May of 2023 we are awarded technical assistance from the National Park Service (NPS) through their Rivers, Trails & Conservation Assistance (RTCA) program.  The NPS assigns a Landscape Architect and Community Planner to our trails project.

July 2023

National Park Service Site Visit

The NPS team travels to Egg Harbor for a week in July. The team conducts site reviews of the four proposed connections, holds strategy meetings, and meets with stakeholders.  

August 2023

Iowa State University Community Design Lab Provides Assistance

For the Fall 2023 semester, our National Park Service team enlisted the assistance of the Iowa State University Community Design Lab.  

Our ISU team consists of a design fellow with the ISU Community Design Lab who is also a lecturer in the Landscape Architecture Department at Iowa State University, as well as a landscape architecture student.

Fall 2023

Community Outreach Planning Underway

With the assistance of the NPS and ISU, planning for our Community Outreach campaign begins. In-person events will be held at Egg Harbor's Kress Pavilion during the week of December 11th.
