Japanese Knotweed
It can grow up to 10 centimeters per day. The rapid growth of this plant has been known to cause damage to building structures by targeting weak points, like cracks in masonry. It also poses a threat to land near water, where it prevents streamside tree regeneration, can produce toxic chemicals harmful to surrounding vegetation, and can increase soil erosion. The leaves are spade shaped, alternate from each other, and are 3 to 4 inches wide, 4 to 6 inches long. The top of the leaf is dark green, while the underside is a pale green. The plants are stalk-like, resembling bamboo, with an arching stem reaching up to 10 feet tall. Flowers are creamy-white in color, blooming in the summertime.
