Benefits

The Egg Harbor Trails project is an exciting new initiative that could bring many benefits to our community, including:

  • Improved transportation options: The trails will provide safe and enjoyable ways to get around without having to rely on cars. This could help to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution, and potentially save money on fuel costs.
  • Increased physical activity: The trails will be a great way for us to get exercise and enjoy the outdoors. Walking, biking, and running on the trails might help to improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress, and boost overall well-being.
  • Enhanced community identity: The trails could help to connect us to our community and to each other. They could also be a great way to promote local businesses and attractions.
  • Economic benefits: The trails could lead to increased spending at local businesses and higher property values.
  • Educational opportunities: The trails could offer educational opportunities, as they will often parallel the Niagara Escarpment, including a cave which supports ongoing scientific research. Some of our trails areas are rich in history, from its earliest inhabitants to the present day, with a documented Native American history and well-documented history of fishing, logging, and farming during European settlement.
  • Traffic and parking relief: Our small village experiences significant and worsening congestion due to our reliance on motorized vehicles. During the tourist season (5 months), parking and traffic congestion can reach a breaking point. The new trails may help to relieve this by offering a new transportation alternative for walking and biking.
  • Environmental benefits: The trails could help to protect the environment by reducing air pollution and traffic congestion.

Overall, the Egg Harbor Trails project is a promising new initiative that could have a positive impact on our community. We are excited to see how it develops and to share its benefits with our community in the years to come.
