STR Licensing

In December of 2023, Chapter 118 – Short-Term Residential (STR) Dwelling ordinance was passed by the Village Board. Per this ordinance, no person may own or operate an STR within a residential dwelling without a Village of Egg Harbor issued STR License. All STR licenses are effective for 12 months with the term beginning on July 1 and terminating on June 30 of the following year. You must apply/renew a license each year and submit the associated fee of $250.

Registered Agent

If you do not live within 75 miles of the STR, you must have a registered agent that is able to respond to any issues with the property. There are two forms required for a registered agent, the registered agent registration form as well as a signed agreement and/or contract between the owner and the registered agent. Links to both forms are below.

User Guide for Short-Term Rental Operators

QUICK STEPS:

Step 1: Read the User Guide for Short-Term Rental Operators.

Step 2: Create an account. (Tip: use the email address associated with the STR owner used on your 2025/2026 application.) Everyone needs to create an account in the system in order to either register a new STR or update/renew an existing license.

Step 3: Link to an existing license to migrate your existing license into the new system. If you had a license for the 2025/2026 license year, you have an existing license to migrate. Linking a License User Guide.
